About TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxBloomington, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxBloomington event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.

About TEDxBloomington

TEDxBloomington began with a simple desire by a few IU alums to ‘give back’ to the Bloomington community at large. Then the local team sprang up, balancing the equation. We are thrilled to be able to share an extraordinary city and academic community with the larger TED & TEDx world.

The members of the TEDxBloomington planning team share a common passion for TED and the TEDx platform. We truly believe in the spirit of “Ideas Worth Spreading.”

Likewise, each of us is excited to explore the very tangible intersection between “play” and “wisdom,” seeking speakers, sponsors, and participants who embody that spirit in their personal and professional lives. More than a metaphor, we see “The Wisdom of Play” theme as a powerful expectation, process, and deliverable throughout our time together.

Bloomington’s own Dr. Jill Bolte Taylor, author of My Stroke of Insight, spoke at TED in 2008, and from there, sprung to world-wide attention. Her TEDTalk is the most-watched video at TED.com, now with over 1.4 million views
