Lindsay Manfredi

Lindsay Manfredi is one of the co-founders of Girls Rock Indianapolis, a non-profit rock n roll day camp dedicated to building positive self-esteem and encouraging creative expression through music in girls ages 9-16. The Girls Rock Indianapolis program provides girls an opportunity to participate in an environment that fosters leadership, encourages social change, and cultivates a supportive community of female peers and mentors.  Girls Rock Indy is part of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance that reigns out of Portland, OR and started 10 years ago. It has since become an international program with camps in cities around the country as well as Canada and Sweden.

In July of 2010, Girls Rock Indianapolis hosted its first camp with the staff comprised entirely of supporters and volunteers. 40 campers received instruction on guitar, bass, drums or vocals. Each camper became part of a band, worked with their band to write and perform their own original song, and performed that song to a sold-out, standing room only showcase at the end of the week.  The campers also took part in various workshops taught by local women that related to body image, team building, empowerment, zine making, t-shirt design/making and more.  The 2011 camp is scheduled to take place in July and serve 60 campers this year.

Lindsay also owns Linzstar Inc., a social media management company she founded in 2009 that specializes in ghost blogging and social media strategy/management. Lindsay works with array of industries and was named one of Indianapolis’s Top 10 Tweeps to follow on Twitter in 2010. Furthermore, Lindsay serves as a content producer for Raidious, an interactive marketing and communications company purpose-built to produce content and manage dialogue for brands. Lindsay has a BA in Communication with a Business emphasis from Indiana University.

Going back to music, Lindsay’s true passion, she fronts the all-girl band, Neon Love Life. She sings, plays guitar and also plays some bass for the project. The band was recently placed on the Indianapolis Star’s Hot List 2011. Their debut album will be released this summer on Roaring Colonel Records.  Compared to the likes of Sleater Kinny, Nirvana and The Runaways, the girls’ modern take on the 90’s rock sound and live show has made them a growing favorite since their formation in 2009.
